Polar Bear Cub’s First Steps

When a human baby is born, they are cared for from that point forward and it takes quite some time until they are able to care for themselves. One thing that they must learn to do is walk, and it sometimes takes a year or more before a human baby begins walking. That isn’t the case with all animals in the world, however, and for many of them, walking is more than a convenience, it’s a matter of survival.

The polar bear in this video was born at the Toronto zoo and, as you are about to see, it doesn’t take long before he decides to take his first steps. Like a human baby, he is a little bit wobbly at first but it won’t take long before he is going to be up and even running about, enjoying life with his siblings or following his mother around closely.

Of course, a polar bear cub at a zoo would not be in imminent danger from predators but that is not the case in the wild. Polar bears tend to be near the top of the food chain, but walking is essential for their survival. It’s just another amazing piece of nature that we can carry with us.
